Ferry travel - a different view of Bristol

Choosing the ferry to travel to the centre from Templemeads rather than the car, bus or walking is a my favourite mode of transport on a hot day. It's quick and feels as if you are on holiday plus you get a cool breeze. I thought I'd try it out for the Big Commuting Challenge - you get a really different perspective of Bristol from the water and there are no traffic jams to contend with...

Big Commuting Challenge

The Big Commuting Challenge runs for the whole of June and is encouraging people to find alternatives to single occupant car journeys. Now three quarters of the way through and I've car shared, walked over 9 miles, cycled and gone by bus plus worked from home. In the three weeks I've done it I have saved - according to the Challenge calculator - 27kg of co2, used 1,394 calories (equivalent to 7.9 doughnuts) and saved £34.89. I've been much more aware of sights around the city as I've travelled without the car and been generally more relaxed and energised at work. There's still time for others to join and log their journeys retrospectively for the month...
