Creating a time capsule for MemoryScapes

Here I am building a micro controller circuit (under the supervision of KWMC's tech manager Barry) for our MemoryScapes clock, or Time Capsule. When you open the face, music/memories/messages of your choice can play, and you can store memorabilia inside. Developed through workshops with older people, MemoryScapes is aimed to support people with dementia to reconnect with the past in full sensory way.

Dementia Friends visits KWMC

Today most of the team at KWMC spent an hour having Dementia Friends training. It was really helpful and gave us all more of an understanding about Dementia, and gave us tools to become more supportive of people living with Dementia. As it is often seen as stigmatised, we need to start talking more openly about it.

A chance to have your own Memory Chest

After the success of KWMC's MemoryScapes Project, we have now decided to create bespoke memory chests and reminiscence workshops that focus on the history of Bristol, for local groups of people with dementia across the city and the surrounding area. If you work for an organisation who support people with dementia, or you know of a group that might be interested, please get in touch with me, lucinda.thelwell@kwmc.org.uk, 01179030444.
